As we prepare for the launch of our cross hemisphere adventure, we begin by breaking a proverbial bottle of Rum over the bow of this new ship - or Blog - as the case may be. We want to document these adventures with our boys Reef & River who, at 5 years 11 months and 15 months respectively, have so many new experiences to look forward to both north and south of the equator.
What is a Kākāpō you may ask? It is one of the coolest animals in the world. It is a critically endangered flightless parrot that is endemic to (only found in) New Zealand. Want to know more - check out this quick BBC clip on this incredible bird:
So while we've never seen a Kākāpō, we do think they are pretty awesome. And that's what we are going for here - chronicling the awesome . . . and probably some not so awesome - places, things, happenings, and general silliness sure to occur when globetrotting with this crowd!
